7 healthy snack recipes to make during lock-down

It is very tempting to overindulge during this stressful period of time so why not try alternative treats which are both tasty and nutritious.

I have chosen recipes that are super easy so that the whole family can give it a go. If you find yourself with ingredients that you don’t really know how to use, feel free to email me and I will come up with a recipe for you.

So here are some of my favourite healthy snack recipes.

7 healthy snack recipes

Savoury Snacks

Almond and Rosemary Crackers

I have tried this recipe this week and it was a real winner. If you struggle to find regular flour, you can order almond flour from this online shop as this is what you need to make those crackers. You will find the full recipe here.

Savoury popcorn

Popcorn is a great alternative to crisps. But please, do avoid the microwavable popcorn as it contains undesirable ingredients that are not good for the body. The best way to make it is to either use a popcorn maker (as you won’t need any oil) or you can make it with a little oil in a saucepan on the stove. I enjoy mine salty but you can, of course, have sweet popcorn. Just go easy with sugar. You will find the full instructions here.

Here are some topping ideas:

  • cheesy nutritional yeast and salt
  • parmesan and fresh parsley
  • cinnamon and sugar
  • chili powder and lime juice
  • everything seasoning
  • smoked paprika and salt
  • curry powder and cinnamon
  • salt and pepper
  • BBQ seasoning

Sweet Snacks

Raw Chocolate Brownie Bites

Who doesn’t like chocolate? Although this recipe does not contain nuts, you can easily adapt it with the ingredients you have in your cupboard. For example, you could add chopped walnuts or desiccated coconut or you could swap some of the dates for other dried fruit like raisins. You will find the full recipe here.

Low Sugar Chocolate Granola

This granola is so tasty that it can be enjoyed as a snack as it comes. Kids get really excited when chocolate is mentioned. With a nice selection of nuts (depending on what is available in your cupboard) and wholegrains, this is a very satisfying option. You will find the full recipe here.

Sweet Potato and Chocolate muffins

These muffins are full of nutrients and with a yummy soft texture and a naturally sweet taste, they will seduce all cake lovers. You will find the full recipe here.

No-Bake Tahini Squares

These little bites are simply delicious. A fabulous option when you fancy a treat that will still give you plenty of nutrients. Suitable for the whole family and they can be stored in the freezer. You will find the full recipe here.

Beetroot Brownies

These Buckwheat Beetroot Brownies are gluten-free, full of nutrients and with a yummy fudgy texture they will seduce all cake lovers. If you happen to have a pack of cooked beetroot, it is a good way to use it up. You will find the full recipe here.
